Eye Care - Part II
Prevention in Ayurveda that everyone can do.
Greetings lovely readers!
There is so much to share about Ayurveda’s prevention tips and care on the eyes. I am excited to share with you (which I may have shared before) on something all of us can do - naturally. Looking at a candle flame. The other tip is, once again, using ghee for eye care.
What? Looking at a candle flame? Yes. Just that!
What do I mean by this?
First off, did you know that Ayurvedic eye care focuses on both prevention and rejuvenation?
Also, did you know that energy escapes the eyes when they are open as well as the following: mouth, ears, and nose?
Of all the “doorways” through which energy escapes—eyes, mouth, ears, and nose—the eyes release up to 80% of energy when they are open.
Okay, back to the candlelight.
According to the Art of Living Retreat Center, there is such a thing as yoga for the eyes. Trataka (Candle or Flame Gazing Meditation) is meditation as well as eye cleansing, mind calming, improves focus and intuition! It also helps in strengthening the eyes.
Below is the method:
1.Use a ghee lamp with a cotton wick (less heat than a candle).
2.Sit upright in a dark room, lamp at eye level, ~1.5 feet away.
3.Place your palms on your thighs, either palm up or down.
4.Fix your gaze on the flame tip, trying not to blink.
5.When tears appear, close your eyes until the flame image disappears.
6.Repeat several times, then sit with eyes closed, focusing on the space between the eyebrows.
You can get a lamp to use ghee in from a selection via Etsy: Etsy.com
To use it you don’t have to be religious, it is purely being used for eye care in this case.
This method is one of several to care for your eyes. Check out the remainder of the article. I suppose starting with a small tea light can be a start until you have a ghee lamp, which is less heat, and gentler on the eyes. When you visit your eye doctor I am sure you will receive a good bill of health when they see the condition your eyes are in with your care and prevention measures.
Enjoy!
Peace and Blessings.
